This officer has a face and a pose that shows he is a low ranking officer caught between his superiors and his inferiors. The neckerchief is a symbol of his rank in the officer corps and one that is in close contact with the troops rather than the generals. A lot is expected of him and he must deliver, an ancient equivalent of the middle manager of today.
He is made to resemble a real terracotta warrior so is made from the same mud and low fired to recreate their appearance as they were uncovered at Xian.
